Stores compete to prove their green credentials are in the bag†
Financial Times, April 26, 2007 — Thousands of shoppers queued outside J Sainsbury stores yesterday to snap up the latest special offer. But they were not seeking cut-price groceries, clothes or electrical goods: they just wanted a bag. Within an hour of 450 stores opening at 8am, the supermarket chain had sold out of the 20,000 reusable cotton bags created by designer Anya Hindmarch, which cost £5 each.
